Mr. Certilman began his practice as a domestic and international arbitrator in 1988 upon joining the Commercial Roster of Neutrals of the American Arbitration Association. Through the AAA, ICDR and other ADR administering organizations and on an ad hoc basis, he has served in more than 250 cases as chair, tribunal member and sole arbitrator under the rules of various domestic and international arbitral bodies and the laws of various nations in a wide range of legal areas including technology, IT and business process outsourcing, general corporate and commercial law, insurance, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, telecommunications, biotech and medical device software, publishing, marketing and manufacturing disputes, corporate transactions and finance, investor and investment disputes, franchises, real estate, employment, construction, securities, trusts and estates and torts.
Mr. Certilman is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham University School of Law teaching International Arbitration. He is Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of major arbitration panels worldwide including the AAA (ICDR, Large Complex Case, M&A, commercial, employment and technology panels), International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (Commercial and Intellectual Property Disputes panels), Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society, Asian International Arbitration Centre and Vienna International Arbitration Centre. Mr. Certilman is a past attendee of the Negotiation and Leadership program of the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation.
