R. Wayne Thorpe, Esq. has been a full-time ADR neutral since 1998. He has served as mediator, arbitrator, special master, case evaluator and in other neutral roles in over 1400 cases, in at least 15 states, involving all kinds of civil disputes, including class action, mass tort, MDL, and other high stakes and complex cases.
Mr. Thorpe has handled over 400 cases as arbitrator, adjudicator, umpire, or other adjudicator, as well as at least 30 cases as case evaluator or non-binding arbitrator, including business/consumer, employment, environmental, construction, healthcare, IP/technology, civil rights, and tort cases. Mr. Thorpe actively manages arbitration cases to get them resolved in the most cost effective manner. He frequently serves as chair of tri-partite panels and as a party-appointed arbitrator.
Mr. Thorpe is a Past Chair of the ABA Dispute Resolution Section, and he has been named for several years in International Who’s Who of Commercial Mediation, The Best Lawyers in America and Georgia Super Lawyers. Best Lawyers has named him the Atlanta Arbitration Lawyer of the Year for 2015, Atlanta Mediation Lawyer of the Year for 2012. In 1997 he was appointed by the Georgia Supreme Court to the Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution. Until 1998, Mr. Thorpe was a litigation partner in a large Atlanta law firm; he has also taught ADR courses in law schools.
